TripMaker is Rand McNally's new Road Trip planning tool. In addition to just giving turn-by-turn driving directions, now you can build and manage full itineraries, find interesting places along the way and print, email and export your trips to any Rand McNally GPS device.
Take our tour to learn more!
The first step to planning the perfect road trip is to create your trip. Begin by entering your start and destination locations. You can enter addresses, cities, states or zip codes. After that, give your trip a name and select any routing options you want.
You can always change these options later by clicking on the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) on the Trip Manager tab.
Once your trip is created, it will be shown on the map. Now it's time to add some stops. You can add a stop by clicking the Add a Stop button or by clicking the Plus icon on the Trip Manager tab.
When you add a new stop to a trip, it will automatically be put in the location that best minimizes your total driving distance. However, you can reorder your stops in a few different ways:
TripMaker allows you to change your route simply by dragging the blue line on the map. Hold your mouse over this line and then click and drag to move the route line. Drop the line where you want it to go and it will create a new waypoint in your trip.
Think of waypoints as a location on your trip that you always want to pass through.
Click the Things to Do tab to see interesting places to visit. These includes thousands of unique points of interest across the United States, hand picked by Rand McNally editors. Click the categories to show them on the map.
The Search On My Way feature is great for finding things to do within a certain distance of your route. When this feature is turned on, you will see a light blue bubble surrounding your trip shows you this area and you will only see Points of Interest from the "Things to Do" tab that fall within a certain distance from your route.
You can also turn this off to see things to do anywhere on the visible map, regardless of your route.
You can also see turn-by-turn Driving Directions for every itinerary. Simply click the Driving Directions tab on the Trip Manager panel. Driving directions will also be included on every print-out and email.
Once you've planned your trip, you can email or print the trip itinerary or you can export to any Rand McNally GPS device. Click <Send to GPS> on the Trip Manager tab and follow the on-screen instructions.
Manage multiple trips with ease! Simply click the My Trips tab to see all of your trips.
Here you can create new trips, or delete existing ones. Once you start creating your trips, you will need to create an account so we can save them. Once you have created your account and logged in, all your changes will automatically be saved as you make edits, so you never have to worry about remembering to save your work.
